Vulgarity Checking Has Been Removed

We are announcing that as of today i-Emote will no longer check for vulgarity.

We are not promoting the use of vulgarity and truly believe that there are far better ways of expression. However, we also believe that any form of censorship, even when it is believed to be for a good purpose, is really a bad idea.

Please leave your feedback which will be greatly appreciated. It will help shape the future of i-Emote which is, after all, all about its members.

Sincerely,
The Team

New Feature! URLS!

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new feature that allows you to easily associate your comments with web pages.

i-Emote now makes it incredibly easy to share your i-Emote comments about your favorite web pages. Just type a valid URL into the subject field when you are creating your comment. When you submit the comment by pressing the 'say it' button i-Emote will validate the URL. If i-Emote determines that the URL points to a valid web page it will capture the title of the web page and use that for the subject of your comment and will also include the link to the web page with your comment.

For example, the URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvLtNBm1yyA points to a catchy Arlo Guthrie tune posted on YouTube. To include the web page it points to in your comment type or paste the URL into the Subject field:

When you submit your comment by clicking the 'say it' button your new comment will appear as follows:

When viewing your comment you can click the www icon to browse to the web page.  In addition, it can also be shared.

Please leave your feedback which will be greatly appreciated. It will help shape the future of i-Emote which is, after all, all about its members.

Sincerely,
The Team

Tightened Security Equals A Better Experience For All

In order to eliminate the potential to use i-Emote for malicious purposes we have implemented the following new security features:
  • All new members must now complete an email verification process as part of their registration.
  • Existing members who haven't already confirmed their email address must now complete an email verification process prior to login.
  • Email verification is now also required when changing an email address.
  • The registration process now employs the use of Captcha.
These tightened security features will serve to reduce the opportunity for malicious use of our system.

Though we regret having to employ these techniques the reality of the web unfortunately makes their use necessary.

It is our goal to protect the privacy of all our members and these steps will help in that effort.

Sincerely,
The Team
